OUR STORY

La Serena Villas: A Historic Palm Springs Boutique Hotel Saved by the Community

Originally established in 1933, this iconic historic hotel in Palm Springs was rescued from demolition in 2002 when the community came together to preserve its legacy by securing official historic status.

Originally built in 1933, La Serena Villas is a historic hotel in Palm Springs, beautifully restored and reimagined as a serene retreat in the heart of the city. Set on over an acre of lush, landscaped grounds, our luxury boutique hotel is just steps from the vibrant shops, restaurants, and galleries along iconic Palm Canyon Drive—making us the perfect downtown Palm Springs hotel for those who want to explore and unwind.

Redeveloped in 2016 by award-winning architect May Sung, La Serena Villas blends timeless architecture with the modern amenities of a five-star Palm Springs resort. Every detail, from hand-selected furnishings to the custom finishes, was designed in collaboration with Avenue Interior Design to create a space that feels both luxurious and welcoming.

Framed by the majestic San Jacinto Mountains, each of our private villas offers an intimate escape. Guests enjoy their own secluded patios featuring romantic clawfoot tubs, cozy fire pits, and built-in seating—ideal for a romantic getaway in Palm Springs.

With just 18 guest rooms, a tranquil spa room, elevated restaurant and bar, and a stunning rooftop lounge, La Serena Villas offers the ultimate Palm Springs luxury hotel experience—where historic charm, personalized service, and relaxed elegance come together.
